ALIVE-L Australasian Liaison in Interactive Veterinary Education [electronic bulletin board]This list links educators in the veterinary sciences in Australia, New Zealand and neighboring countries.

ALTANIM, Alternatives to Animals Discussion Group [Electronic bulletin board].
Intended primarily as a forum for professionals working in biomedical research, the Alternatives to Animals Discussion Group is a list for discussion of alternatives to laboratory animals of all species, and related topics.

Animal Concerns Community.
The Animal Concerns Community is a project of the EnviroLink Network, a non-profit organization which has been providing access to thousands of online environmental and animal rights/welfare resources since 1991. This community serves as a clearinghouse for information on the Internet related to animal rights and welfare.

Animal Contacts Directory.
The directory at this web site has been published by a British vegetarian/vegan catering organization for several years and is extensive.

APAARIB [Electronic bulletin board].APA Animal Research Information BoardSponsored by the American Psychological Association, the Animal Research Information Board covers information and items of interest about the use of animals. Alerts are issued for recent news items, such as the filing or disposition of suits, and break-ins. Regular issues include action items, recent publications, news of the animal rights movement and animal welfare organizations, and announcements of meetings and workshops. This board is moderated; material for posting is routed to the editor.

APHIS Gopher and Web Site. The United States Department of Agriculture, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (USDA/APHIS) has developed both a gopher server (gopher. aphis.usda.gov).

Applied Ethology. University of Saskatchewan, Western College of Veterinary Medicine, Dept of Herd Medicine & Theriogenology.An initiative of the International Society for Applied Ethology (ISAE), the applied-ethology network was set up to exchange information, discussions, news, etc., of interest to people working or studying in the field of applied animal ethology. Non-ISAE members with an interest in the field are welcome to participate.

AR-News [Electronic bulletin board] and AR-VIEWS[Electronic bulletin board]. The Animal Rights Electronic Network (AREN).
AR-News is a public news e-mail list (no discussion/chat). To subscribe, go to http://www.ar-news.org/ or send e-mail to: Admin@AR-news.org in text of message, "subscribe ar-news firstname lastname". AR-News is also available in digest form.AR-Views is an open discussion forum and AR-News is a public news wire. AR-Views is designed to provide animal advocates with the opportunity to discuss the many differences in animal rights theory and practice which are found within the AR movement. AR-Views is not a forum for criticism or ridicule of the animal rights movement. Pro- and anti-AR advocates can engage in verbal battle on such forums as the Usenet group t.p.a. (talk. politics.animals).

ASKPRIMATE, is a free email-based reference service for questions dealing with primates, primate organizations, or individuals in primatology. Users of this service should first explore local resources, such as local public, school or university libraries. It is a cooperative service managed by the Library of the Wisconsin Regional Primate Research Center.

COMPMED,the Comparative Medicine Discussion Group, is an unmoderated forum for discussion of comparative medicine, laboratory animals (all species) and related topics. It is limited to participants who work in some aspect of biomedical research, such as veterinarians, technicians, and researchers. Its subject matter includes, but is not limited to, laboratory animal medicine, animal models, research issues, information requests, veterinary or husbandry topics, job notices, animal exchange information, book reviews, and alternatives.

LABORATORY ANIMAL BULLETIN BOARD SYSTEM (LABBS),Sponsored by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS), LABBS is dedicated to disseminating knowledge among veterinarians, researchers, technicians and other individuals involved with laboratory animal science. LABBS provides conferences for the exchange of public and private electronic mail and file transfer upload and download.

Laboratory Primate Newsletter (LPN).
The Newsletter is designed for scientists who work with nonhuman primates in research and those whose work supports such research. It provides information on the care and breeding of nonhuman primates for laboratory research; disseminates information and news about the world of primate research; helps meet the special research needs of individual investigators by publishing requests for research material or for information related to specific research problems; and by publishing information about the conservation of nonhuman primates, it promotes their conservation. LPN includes research articles, short communications, news, and lists of recent publications.

Resources relating to laboratory animals and their welfare, including the Animal Welfare Information Center's electronic publications.

The NIH Guide,for Grants Contracts, published by the United States Department of Health, Education and Welfare, includes notices regarding National Institutes of Health policy, Program announcements, Requests for applications, and Requests for proposals.
