The mission of the Center for Companion Animal Health is to provide a core program which encourages, fosters and facilitates programs in all aspects of health, well-being and disease of companion animals. This is accomplished by acting as an umbrella organization whose sole focus is to improve the health of companion animals by:
This five fold-mission is met through soliciting, evaluating, prioritizing and funding study proposals concerned with developing better approaches to the diagnosis, treatment, management, prevention and control of diseases. CCAH also provides a physical facility and equipment for long term studies and clinically oriented activities. Programs have been developed to enhance the knowledge and skills of the School of Veterinary Medicine's faculty, residents, graduate students, veterinary students and staff who are concerned with improving the care and treatment of companion animals. CCAH also serves as an educational resource for veterinarians, breeders, and the general public through a variety of avenues: CCAH's annual meetings, the CCAH Update newsletter, and our web site. CCAH is continually exploring programs that will improve the health and well-being of companion animals.
