Memorials and Tributes (by individuals)
Individuals may choose to make a donation as a tribute to, or in memory of, a beloved pet, friend or family member. Donors are acknowledged (if desired) in a special letter from the Director of the CCAH which is then sent to the honored person or family telling of the tribute or memorial gift that will benefit companion animal health studies. See the printable mail-in contribution form which has a section specifically for this thoughtful gesture.
Brittany DNA Studies
Supported in part by the Marvin D. Nelson Jr. Memorial Fund (an endowed fund). An endowed memorial fund has been established at the University of California at Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine, Center for Companion Animal Health (CCAH) in memory of Marvin D. Nelson Jr. who died May 31, 2004. The Nelson family established this memorial as a tribute to the three generations of Nelsons who helped make the breed great. The purpose is to find solutions to better understand traits and prevent leading inherited defects, cancer and other genetic diseases related to the Brittany. This fund is the first for the Brittany. The intended goal is a substantial endowment, so the fund will generate income to support studies that have long lasting benefits for the Brittany. This memorial made the Brittany DNA bank possible. The bank, under the direction of Dr. Mark Neff, is a major forward and allows assembly of needed research materials. To contribute DNA samples to our bank please contact Kathryn Robertson. Monetary donations of $500 or more will be recorded on the Marvin D. Nelson Jr. Memorial Plaque hanging in the CCAH building. Anyone can donate to this endowment, just specify in your donation "support for the CCAH Marvin D. Nelson Memorial Fund." To make a donation please contact Lisa Woodard-Mink or download our contribution form.
Companion Animal Memorial Fund (by Veterinary Clinics)
The Companion Animal Memorial Fund (CAMF) program is for veterinary clinics and practitioners. Participating clinics send the names of their clients who have recently lost a precious companion animal to the Center for Companion Animal Health together with a donation in their honor from the clinic. A special letter from the Director of the CCAH is sent to the person or family telling of the memorial gift that will benefit companion animal health studies. Each year, more than 325 participating clinics contribute in excess of $150,000 through memorial gifts for clinical health studies that will improve their ability to better serve their clients. Please contact the Development Office for additional information.
