Different research projects sometimes require slightly different samples for proper study. Most sampling for cat studies includes the collection of DNA samples using a q-tip for a buccal swab and the submission of the cats’ pedigree. At other times, other types of samples are requested. The links on this page will help clarify the samples needed and how to collect and ship the samples to the laboratory. Most buccal swab samples do not need any special shipping requirements, but a note to US Customs can be helpful, especially when using carrier services (DHL, Fedex, TNT), as these are often safer and faster means of shipment.
