Dr. Gregory Ogilvie, DVM, ACVIM (Internal Medicine/Oncology), Director of Angel Care Cancer Center at California Veterinary Specialists, President of the Special Care Foundation for Companion Animals

Prior to his move to Southern California, Dr. Ogilvie was a full tenured professor, internist, head of medical oncology and director of the Medical Oncology Research Laboratory, Animal Cancer Center at Colorado State University from 1987 until 2003. Dr. Ogilvie has lectured to thousands of veterinary students, physicians, graduate veterinarians and scientists at several Universities all over the world. Dr. Ogilvie received his DVM from Colorado State University and was in private practice in Connecticut before completing a residency at Tufts University/Angell Memorial Animal Hospital. From there he joined the faculty as a professor at the University of Illinois before moving on to his professorship in Colorado. Dr. Ogilvie is board certified in both internal medicine and oncology by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and is a Founding Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine-Companion Animals, Specialty of Oncology.

Dr. Signe Beebe, DVM, CBA

Dr. Beebe is a 1988 graduate of the Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in Lafayette, Indiana. After graduation, she practiced veterinary emergency medicine and critical care exclusively until 1997. During this time, she developed, owned and operated a 24-hour animal emergency medicine and critical care facility in central Washington State. Dr. Beebe began her study of alternative and complementary medicine modalities in 1994. She relocated to California in 1997, during which time she practiced acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine as her primary alternative and complement modality, which she integrated with traditional western medical care. In 2000, Dr. Beebe attended the Chi institute of Chinese Medicine in Reddick, Florida and received her certification in veterinary acupuncture. Additionally, Dr. Beebe has completed numerous courses in advanced and basic Chinese herbology and continues independent clinical study of traditional Chinese herbal medicine and its application to veterinary medicine. Dr. Beebe has also completed the University of Tennessee Canine Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy Certificate Program and the Chi Institute's Tuina Certification Course. She has a special interest in the development of Chinese medicine programs for exotic/zoo animals.

Dr. Steven Marsden, DVM, ND, MSOM, Lac, Dipl CH of Edmonton, Canada

Dr. Marsden received his DVM at the University of Saskatchewan in 1988 and studied at the Toronto Metropolitan Zoo and the Calgary Zoo, as well as founded the Wild and Exotic Animal Medicine Society, a wildlife rehabilitation service at University of Saskatchewan. Dr. Marsden went on to found a highly successful small and exotic animal practice in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and it was there that his interest in alternative medicine was first sparked. Although at first skeptical about the benefits of holistic therapy, Dr. Marsden became convinced of its uses after successfully treating several of his patients using alternative therapy where conventional treatments had failed. After witnessing the effectiveness of homeopathy, Dr. Marsden resolved to get additional training. To this end, he sold his practice and enrolled the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon. Five years later, Dr. Marsden had obtained a doctorate in Naturopathic medicine, a Master's of Science in Oriental Medicine, his licensure in acupuncture and his diplomate status in Chinese herbology. In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Marsden lectures at the National College of Naturopathic Medicine on integrative medicine, and across Canada and the United States on the practice of holistic veterinary medicine. He also travels regularly to China and Tibet to further his expertise.

Dr. Karen Spracklen, DVM, CVA, owner of Holly Lane Veterinary Service, Ohio

Dr. Spracklen is an equine practitioner based in Ohio. Dr. Karen Spracklen is originally from Goshen, Indiana and received her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees from Purdue University. She was certified in animal chiropractic through the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association in 1996 and she completed certification in veterinary acupuncture through the Chi Institute of Chinese Medicine in 1999. Karen owns the Holly Lane Veterinary Service, an equine practice entirely devoted to complementary therapies - primarily acupuncture, chiropractic, and Chinese herbs.

Dr. Sarah LeJeune, DVM, DACVS, DECVS, CVA, UC Davis SVM Faculty

Dr. LeJeune is originally from Belgium and received her DVM degree from the University of Liege (Belgium) in 1999. After completing a residency in Equine Surgery at UC Davis, Dr. LeJeune became a board-certified surgeon and has been a member of the UC Davis Equine Surgery faculty since 2003. Since becoming certified in veterinary acupuncture, she has integrated acupuncture and TCVM into her equine practice.
