Welcome to the SAVFP!
Thank you for visiting the homepage of the first student chapter of the Association for Veterinary Family Practice at the University of California, Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine. The Student Association for Veterinary Family Practice (SAVFP) aims to promote a higher level of primary patient care by treating pets as part of the human family and community. In addition to basic medial and surgical skills, the SAVFP believes that the veterinary family practitioner should possess skills that take into consideration the changing relationship between humans and companion animals.
The mission of AVFP
"Through an integrated team approach to the veterinary healing arts, the Association for Veterinary Family Practice promotes health and quality of life for companion animals who live in human families and communities. Three areas of focus for the organization have been identified:"
- Education: To provide the knowledge and skills required for an integrative approach to animal health care
- Promotion: To be visible vocal advocates for the unique roles that animals play in families and society
- Research: To promote the research needed to further the science of Veterinary Family Practice
