    What do WAAM Officers Do?

    WAAM Officers Position Description

    Presidents

  • Symposium- reserving rooms, event permits, speakers, CE credit, proceedings, food, finances, wetlab, etc.
  • Run general and officer meetings, oversee other officer positions, club registration, etc.
  • Record keeping for current list of paid members and participation
  • OWCN training

    Sr. Treasurer

  • Maintains finances and bookkeeping for WAAM account
  • Work closely with Presidents, Webmaster, and Fundraisers to determine funding for symposium and club events

    Jr. Treasurer

  • Financial liaison between freshman/sophomore classes and Senior Treasurer- becomes the Senior Treasurer the following year.
  • Produce and sell candy grams once each quarter (with help from the reps of freshmen, sophomore, and junior classes, fundraisers, and additional volunteers)- buy candy, put grams together, and distribute in mailboxes
  • Webmasters

  • Design website, and update website with club info
  • Keep track of symposium registration through web forms and spreadsheets

    Fundraisers

  • T-shirts- logo contest, orders, selling in classes and at symposium
  • Candy grams- assist Jr Treasurer with packaging and distribution
  • Food distributions- respond to emails, find assistants, supervise
  • Rec Hall cleanup- respond to email, find assistants, supervise
  • Dinners: Chevy’s, Woodstock’s
  • Donations for symposium

    Fieldtrip Coordinators

  • Arrange 2-3 field trips per quarter- contact vets, arrange student lists via email, provide directions, attend trip, collect money if relevant, and keep record of participants

    Wetlab Coordinators

  • Organize wetlabs (Darting, Wildlife Necropsy, Raptor Handling, Other)- organize teaching and supplies, obtain specimens, reserve rooms, etc.

    Public Relations

  • Organize social event with wildlife students and professors (WHC)
  • Put together database of wildlife related contacts for externships, summer research

    Speakers

  • Organize 1 wildlife related speaker per quarter- coordinate all 3 class schedules, provide food
    Organize panel of senior wildlife students

    Picnic Day

  • Organize and oversee the WAAM Picnic Day exhibit and volunteers

    Zoo Rounds

  • Organize zoo rounds once per quarter, either at VMTH or at Sac Zoo
  • Assist with organizing symposium wetlab

    Freshmen Representative

  • Announce WAAM events to class of 2011
  • Assist Jr Treasurer with candy grams
