Veterinary Business Management Association Club

Our Business Professionals

We are lucky to have two of the best business-minded advisors for our VBMA Chapter here at UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. Our advisors have been key in supporting our chapter to be as active, professional, and current on business information as possible. Each year they encourage us to go above and beyond and take risks on new ideas.

Always a store of good advice and information, Dr. Paul Pion and Dr. James Clark. Learn a little bit more about them here:

Paul Pion, DVM

Dr. Paul Pion is the co-founder and president of the Veterinary Information Network - a webpage for veterinarians to make communicating with each other easier. He graduated with his DVM at Cornell School of Veterinary Medicine and went to UC Davis SVM for a cardiology residency. One of his major accomplishments was discovery of taurine deficiency and dilated cardiomyopathy. He is passionate about the veterinary profession becoming more business-minded, especially students who will be entering the field.

James Clark, DVM, MBA

Dr. James Clark graduated from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1988 and also returned for his MBA. He is an owner of several emergency veterinary clinics in California as well as finds time to teach vet students at UC Davis. During the first three years, Dr. Clark teaches students about how to properly and efficiently communicate with clients as well as teaches the business course during 3rd year. He knows how hard the large debt students go into and he strives to teach students how to build up those skills that will lead to success in not only owning a business but also in the veterinary field in general.
