Ingrid Von Mangoldt Hills
Ingrid was born and raised in Cologne, West Germany. She graduated
from Cambridge University with a degree in English and continued
her education with studies at the Alliance Française in Paris.
Since coming to the United States she has been active in community
affairs as a Trustee of the San Francisco Ballet and Chairman
of their Host Committee (1986 - 1991), Trustee of the International
Visitors Center, and Trustee of the Child Abuse Prevention Society.
She is also a past member of the Exhibition/Special Projects Committee
of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco.
In 1989, recognizing the important contributions of Raisa Gorbachev
to the development of democratic principles in the Soviet Union,
Ingrid founded "Friends of Raisa Gorbachev" and met with then
President Gorbachev and Raisa on a number of occasions.
She is Founder of The Hills Project, a visual and performing
arts program for inner-city youth that presently serves 3,300
youths from K-8th grade. Ingrid is President of The Edward E.
Hills Fund, a family foundation and President of Hills Educational
Programs, a non-profit organization which specializes in funding
educational projects.
As a result of her involvement with arts education in public
schools, she was appointed to the Arts Task Force in 1997 to explore
the benefit of arts instructions by Delaine Easton, the Superintendent
of Education for California.
Ingrid is currently on the Board of the San Francisco Ballet
and a trustee on the Board of Visitors at the Institute for International
Studies at Stanford University.
Professionally, she has been active in radio broadcasting for
KFRC/Magic 61 and television reporting for KTVU/Channel 2.
