An Annual or Current Gift
An annual or current gift may be designated for use by the School of Veterinary Medicine where the need is greatest (unrestricted) or may be designated for a specific program or purpose (restricted). The gift generally is used in the year it is received.

A Permanent or Endowed Gift
An endowed gift allows for long-term planning. The principal is invested and returns annual interest. Part of the annual interest is reinvested to increase the principal, and part is used for the purpose intended (such as a yearly scholarship). Endowed funds usually carry the benefactor’s name.

An Estate Gift
An estate gift or bequest is provided through a will or living trust. Upon the donor’s passing, the gift goes to the School of Veterinary Medicine for the intended purpose. For more information, please see the gift contribution form or contact a

A Planned Gift
A planned gift combines current income for the donor during his/her lifetime with the intention to provide future program support. Upon the donor’s passing, the charitable remainder goes to the School of Veterinary Medicine for the purpose intended. For more information, please see the

A life insurance policy may have the School of Veterinary Medicine designated as beneficiary.

A Memorial or Tribute Gift
A contribution to the school, a department or any of its centers (Center for Companion Animal Health, Center for Equine Health, Wildlife Health Center) makes a thoughtful gift in memory of a deceased pet or animal-loving individual, or as a tribute to someone living who deserves special recognition. Please see the
contribution form for guidance in sending a memorial or tribute gift.

Types of assets that may be given

Cash Gifts
A cash gift in the form of a check may be designated for use by the School of Veterinary Medicine. It should be written to the "UC Regents" or the "UC Davis Foundation." and accompanied by written instructions stating how the gift is to be used.

Corporate Matching Gifts
Corporate matching gifts multiply the value of your donation. If your employer has such a program, check with the company's Human Resources Office and include their "matching gift form" with your gift.

Securities
Securities (such as stocks, bonds, certificates of deposit, etc.) may be donated to the School of Veterinary Medicine by calling either the Office of Development (530) 752-7024 or the UC Davis Foundation (530) 757-3360. Contributing highly appreciated securities may offer significant tax savings for donors. The School of Veterinary Medicine
development officers can provide guidance.

Real Estate
Real estate may be transferred (deeded) to the "UC Regents" or the "UC Davis Foundation" with specific instructions naming the School of Veterinary Medicine as beneficiary.
