Mission Statement

The mission of the CNPRC Genetics Core is to incorporate genetics into primate colony management and to assist the development of genetic components into primate research design. The incorporation of genetics in colony management will attempt to minimize the loss of genetic variation, control the propogation of particular lineages, manage kinship, and provide researchers with kinship defined primates. The Genetics Core will assist researchers with genetic components of research design by developing requested assays, perform genetic screening, and provide design support and recommendations for genetics components of study protocols. The Genetics Core serves both the CNPRC and external primate research as a "fee for service" and/or as a collaborative effort. The services and resources provided by the Genetics Core are implemented with the approval of the Genetics Core Advisory Board. Collaborative primate research efforts are incorporated into principle investigator research programs.
