A strong research program generates new knowledge that improves animal health, public health and environmental health. The Office of Research and Graduate Education develops and administers public and private grant funding to centers and investigators across a broad spectrum of health issues and species interests. Faculty members share their findings through classroom teaching, scientific publications and clinical practice.
The Office of Research and Graduate Education also coordinates graduate education opportunities at the School of Veterinary Medicine as well as fellowships that foster student interest in research and academic careers. Visit the site.
The school's centers of excellence foster faculty collaborations, identify funding, oversee scientific projects, and develop new knowledge. Centers may focus on a particular species group such as companion animals, horses, food animals or wildlife. Health issues and multidisciplinary themes may also define a center: food safety; vectorborne, tropical and other infectious diseases; orthopedics and more. Some centers run entirely on private donations.
