Admission Information


Basic Requirements for Admission:

Tuition & Fees

Required Grade Point Average
A minimum grade point average of 2.50 (on a 4-point scale, A=4) is required for both required science and cumulative college coursework.  Computation of minimum grade point averages is based on all coursework completed at the time of application.
 
Applicants not meeting the required minimum GPA of 2.50 can qualify for consideration by having a combined score in the upper 30th percentile on the Graduate Record Examination.

Graduate Record Examination
All applicants are required to take the General Test of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) which includes the verbal, quantitative and analytical writing sections.  The GRE must be taken no later than October 1 of the year the application is submitted.  Examinations taken after this deadline will not be accepted for consideration in the year the application is filed. The GRE must be taken within a five-year period , (Oct 1, 2004 - Oct. 1, 2009) prior to applying for veterinary school. When the GRE has been taken more than once, the highest score in every section will be used.  GRE information and registration bulletin may be obtained from the Educational Testing Service at http://www.gre.org or by calling 1-800-GRE-CALL.

Required Courses
The majority of required science coursework must be completed at the time of application.  Pending courses must be completed prior to matriculation.  

Lower Division Required Science Courses
One year of General Biology - w/lab
One year of General Chemistry - w/lab
One year of Organic Chemistry - w/lab
One year of Physics - no lab required

Upper Division Required Science Courses
(must be taken at a four-year college)

One semester of Biochemistry
One semester of Systemic Physiology
One semester of Genetics

Additional Required
English (12 quarter or 8 semester units-one course must be an English Composition course)
Humanities and Social Sciences (12 quarter or 8 semester units)
Statistics (one quarter or semester of any Statistics course ie medical, business, ag, etc.)
