The purpose of these clubs is to provide opportunity for students to gain additional knowledge and experience within a particular area of specialty in veterinary medicine. This is accomplished through speakers, wet-labs, meetings and other club functions. These clubs include:

SPECIALTY CLUBS / ORGANIZATIONS
American Animal Hospital Association
The student chapter of AAHA informs and educates students about veterinary hospitals and practice standards.


Caduceus Club
A social club designed to promote interaction between veterinary students and faculty/staff in the vet school.


Camelid Medicine Club
The Camelid Medicine Club's goal is to provide experience and education about camelids to veterinary students. The club goes on field trips with local vets to local llama and alpaca ranches to help with tasks ranging from pregnancy checks and vaccination, to sick animal calls and delivering crias. We also hold wet labs on campus to teach students a variety of procedures including, blood collection, catheterization and shearing. Our club also hosts the annual Camelid Medicine Symposium. This is a two day weekend event where speakers from UC Davis and around the country come to speak on many camelid health subjects.


Doxie Derby - Class of 2008
The UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine Doxie Derby is hosted annually by the second-year veterinary student class. The race is held during Picnic Day in the Pavilion at the Activities and Recreation Center located on LaRue Drive.


Fish and Invertebrate Systems Health (F.I.S.H) Club
The FISH club focuses on the veterinary care and husbandry of marine and freshwater fish and invertebrates. We also aim to help veterinary students form connections with the aquariums and fish and invertebrate producers world-wide in an effort to improve the care and understanding of these unique animals.


Holistic Veterinary Medicine Club
This is the Davis chapter of the AHVMA. Their purpose is to advance holistic veterinary medicine and provide veterinary students with educational opportunities in holistic veterinary medicine and related subjects.


International Veterinary Student Organization
This is the Davis chapter of the IVSA. This club specializes in increasing exposure of students to the nature of veterinary medicine in countries other than the United States. It also helps to arrange for students to spend time in other countries, working within the profession.


Mercer Veterinary Clinic for the Homeless
This organization is active in supplying veterinary care to the homeless and underprivileged people of the Sacramento area. They function through donation of supplies and food by private practitioners as well as professional companies. The clinic is staffed by volunteers including practicing veterinarians and students from UC Davis.


Pet Loss Support Hotline
The student chapter of PLSH promotes education and awareness to the veterinary profession and general public about pet loss grief and emotion. Students participate in workshops and staff the hotline which provides critical and caring support to individuals who have recently lost a pet.


Society for Veterinary Fluorescence
This organization promotes the use of fluorescence in the veterinary community and beyond.


Student American Veterinary Medical Association (SAVMA)


Student Animal Welfare Committee (SAWC)
Promote animal welfare education & activities and support alternative surgical program.


Student Chapter (UCD) of the American Veterinary Medical Association (SCAVMA)


Students Alleviating Pet Overpopulation
The purpose of SAPO is to increase awareness of the problem of pet overpopulation that exists in this country. This club is active in trying to educate the general public of the benefits of spaying neutering pets, as well as teaching the amount of responsibility that accompanies pet ownership.


Veterinary Business Management Association

The UCD School of Veterinary Medicine's chapter of the VBMA is dedicated to increasing business acumen and providing networking opportunities to veterinarians and veterinary students. Through their involvement in this organization, veterinary students develop communication, customer service, negotiation, leadership, and managerial skills that enable them to elevate their careers and our profession as a whole.


Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society
The purpose of the student chapter of the SVECCS is to promote the specialties of emergency & critical care medicine.


Veterinary Student Outreach Club
Veterinary Student Outreach (VSO) Club at UC Davis functions to generate and propagate interest in various fields of science, including but not limited to veterinary medicine, for audiences of all ages.  Our goal is to educate our audiences; as well as help participating club members develop communication and organizational skills vital to a successful veterinary career.
