Message from the Director

The face of veterinary medicine is ever changing. New technologies and the emergence of molecular medicine provide veterinarians with heretofore unforeseen opportunities for the betterment of animal health and the welfare of society. These opportunities will require that veterinarians have broad expertise and training to implement the new paradigms in veterinary diagnosis and treatment that will be established in the new millennium. Veterinary scientists must be trained in an ever expanding array of fields from the basic biological sciences, biomedical engineering, information technology, epidemiology, to the clinical sciences, if we are to fulfill the expectations of society. Thus the training of veterinary scientists who are committed to academic medicine is essential to expand the frontiers of animal health and welfare.
