As we celebrate the UC Davis Centennial in 2008-2009, we also commemorate 60 years of teaching, research and service as only veterinary school in the University of California system.
Our statewide programs, whether publicly supported or privately funded, benefit animal health, protect public health and enhance environmental health. The school is the state's primary health resource for companion animals, livestock, wildlife and other species.
We teach veterinary students in the 4-year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree program and train master's, resident and doctoral candidates in specialized fields of veterinary health and biomedical science. Faculty research and the real-world cases of the William R. Pritchard Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital are essential components of our teaching programs. Student learning is also enriched through research projects, international exchange, volunteer activities and field experience.
Our graduates pursue careers and hold leadership positions in private practice, public agencies, academia, industry and other settings.
