*Because registration fees are subject to gubernatorial, legislative and Regental action, these fees may change without notice. The registration fee includes a $1,446 premium for mandatory student health insurance, which may be waived if the student shows evidence of non-campus coverage. For complete veterinary medicine student fee information, visit the UC Davis Office of Resource Management and Planning website. Financial aid is awarded to eligible students to fund direct educational and living costs. Veterinary medical students receive financial aid in the form of grants and student loans. In addition, the School administers an outstanding scholarship/grant program that provides over $1 million in annual support to students. Financial aid awards do not cover expenses such as automobile payments or consumer debt; entering students are advised to get these expenses in order before beginning the veterinary program. To apply for financial aid, complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on-line. Please note that the UC Davis federal school code is 001313. The 2004-05 priority application deadline for continuing students was March 2, 2004. New students are encouraged to apply by the priority deadline, but will not be penalized if delayed due to admission decisions. For additional information, read the UC Davis Financial Aid Application Instructions. Students may receive a combination of loan and grant based on eligibility that does not exceed their cost of attendance. A financial aid recipient entering the veterinary program in Fall 2003 can expect to borrow a minimum of $18,500 per year in student loans. Loan sources may include:
** Entering veterinary students are strongly encouraged to provide parental information to evaluate your family's financial background for consideration of the Health Professions Student Loan (HPSL). Providing this information will not affect your independent status for financial aid awards. Eligibility for HPSL may reduce a student's need to borrow unsubsidized loan with less favorable terms.
