Dr. George West Fellowship

Dr. George West had a passion for veterinary medicine and a love of teaching and mentoring, earning him the “Best Teacher of the Year” award more than a dozen times. The Dr. George West fellowship was established to ensure an integrated approach to emerging health issues, and provide necessary support to future veterinarians, scientists and public health professionals address environmental, human and animal health issues that affect communities across the world.

Dr. Walter Sadler

Walter Sadler MPVM Endowed Scholarship

The Walter Sadler MPVM Scholarship was established in 2006 through the efforts of former colleagues, students, family, friends and the support of Mrs. Julia Sadler (Dr. Sadler’s widow) to honor the memory of Dr. Walter Sadler. Dr. Sadler played a key role in developing the MPVM Program within the School of Veterinary Medicine and served as its first director. The Walter Sadler MPVM Endowed Scholarship fund provides financial support to DVM undergraduates and/or graduate students enrolled in the MPVM program.

Dr. Calvin Schwabe

Dr. Calvin Schwabe One Health Scholarship

Widely known as the “father of modern epidemiology,” the late Calvin Schwabe had a productive and inspiring career that spanned 52 years. Twenty-five of those years were spent at UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine as a professor of epidemiology, where he made significant and broad contributions to the study of zoonotic diseases, production and food animal medicine, and public health.

The Dr. Schwabe One Health Scholarship is awarded to a student in the Master of Preventive Veterinary Medicine Program in good academic standing who is pursuing a project/career in One Health, as evidenced by a personal statement and/or research plan.
