How Can I Enroll My Pet in the TLC for Pets Program?

For information about enrolling your pet(s) in the TLC for Pets Program, please contact the TLC Coordinator at 530-752-7024. The TLC Coordinator will send you an information packet, including an enrollment form. The TLC Coordinator will be able to answer any questions you may have about the program.

How It Works

The UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine places your pet in a caring home that is pre-screeened to match your pet’s needs and monitored throughout your pet’s lifetime. After placement, we continue to be a resource to caretakers to ensure the highest quality of life for your pet.

These simple steps are all that are required to sign up:

  • Participate in a home interview and examination of your pet to help ensure all health care needs and/or behavior traits are identified.
  • Revise your estate plans to include the TLC for Pets Program. We can work with you and your attorney.
  • Give the school a copy of your will or trust provision referring to the TLC for Pets Program and enrollment forms.
  • Keep the program updated on your pet’s health.
  • Notify a friend, relative, neighbor or executor of your estate that your pet is enrolled in the TLC for Pets Program. Upon enrollment, we will provide you with a special contact card to give them. When it is time for your pet to need care, these contacts can notify the school.

The TLC For Pets Program, which is funded through estate gifts from clients who enroll their pets, will provide lifetime health care for enrolled animals whose owners pre decease them. A contribution of $50,000.00 for each dog and $30,000 for each cat to the TLC for Pets Program will help provide lifetime veterinary care for each enrolled pet. Pets with special needs will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis during the enrollment process.

In addition to enrolling your beloved pets in the TLC for Pets Program, you can elect to make an additional gift to enhance and promote animal health and well-being for all pets through the teaching, research, and service mission of the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. Contact the School of Veterinary Medicine's Development Office for details.
