Dog Breed Showcase

Passionate about a certain breed of dog or know someone who is? This is your chance, or theirs, to shocase your dog's breed to the public! As part of Picnic Day, the UCD School of Veterinary Medicine's Canine Medicine Club is proud to present the Dog Breed Showcase!

It is our pleasure to welcome back past participants and extend a invitation to all individuals and clubs interested in exhibiting a breed of dog. The Dog Breed Showcase is a wonderful (and fun) opportunity for rare and unusual dogs, as well as more popular breeds, to be exhibited to more than 70,000 people, many of whom have never been to a dog show.

The Dog Breed Showcase is a wonderful opportunity for rare and unusual dogs, as well as more popular breeds, to be exhibited to Picnic Day attendees, many of whom have never been to a dog show. This is the time for you to show off your canine companions!

There will be two parades and you are invited to participate in one or both. During the Breed Parade, each dog breed will be spotlighted in the ring while the announcer provides information about the particular breed’s history, temperament, and medical problems. You may provide information for us to mention about your breed during the show; please include this information on your registration form. Otherwise, we will read breed descriptions obtained from the American Kennel club book of dog breeds.

All dogs brought to the showcase must be healthy, not showing any signs of illness, and fully vaccinated (rabies and DHPP).

Information including a schedule of events, a map, and directions to the location will be forwarded to all participants returning a registration form.

If you’re interested in participating in this year’s Breed Parade, please fill out the Breed Parade Registration form below and email it to UCDCMC@hotmail.com. If you have any questions or special requests, you can contact Aisha Young ('10) at UCDCMC@hotmail.com. We look forward to your participation in this year’s Picnic Day!

Participation in the showcase is free of charge. Space is limited, however, and selection of participants is on a "first come, first serve" basis.

Frisbee Dog Contest

The high flying frisbee dogs are back again this year! The UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine's Canine Medicine Club, Disc Dogs of the Golden Gate and Iams are proud to sponsor the Picnic Day Frisbee Dog Contest. Each dog will have one minute to get in as many throws as possible. There will be prizes for the top three dogs, so get ready to watch them jump it out to be top dog!

Participation in the Frisbee Dog Contest is free of charge, however, space is limited. Participants are selected on a "first come, first serve" basis, and the contest usually fills up months in advance!

NOTE: Registration is closed as of April 15, 2009. There will be NO registrations accepted at the event.
