Opportunties in Equine Practice Seminar
Every year, the AAEP sponsors a trip for up to 15 third-year students from each veterinary school in North America to participate in the Opportunities in Equine Practice Seminar in Lexington, Kentucky. This fabulous experience in the heart of American Thoroughbred country includes tours of famous farms, equine hospitals, and Keeneland Racetrack, the chance to meet veterinary students from around the continent, network with potential externship and internship opportunities, and attend lectures by top equine veterinarians in a variety of fields about the myriad of different types of practice that exist under the heading of "equine practice."
The UC Davis contingent in 2006 consisted of 14 students. Several students arrived a day early to tour Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Horse Park before attending the seminar.
