Mercer Clinic for the Pets of the Homeless

Services

Free Service to the Homeless

The Mercer Veterinary Clinic offers free monthly veterinary care for the pets of the homeless in the Sacramento area. Mercer relies entirely on generous donations and is run by volunteer veterinary faculty, residents and students from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. The clinic is held the second Saturday of every month, from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m., at the Loaves and Fishes complex (1321 West C St., Sacramento, CA 95811). Clients must check in no later than 9 a.m.

Pets are treated by volunteer students and veterinarians. Veterinary students run routine diagnostic tests and treat medical problems, such as ear mites, infections and minor wounds. A limited budget is utilized to refer pets requiring surgery, radiology or other advanced care, to full-time local clinics. Cases are referred only through our Referral Coordinators.

The more donations we receive, the more referral services we are able to provide. To donate, please click here. Your donations are greatly appreciated!
