Volunteer Information
The Mercer Veterinary Clinic for the Homeless is held during the second Saturday of every month year-round from 8AM to approximately 2PM. Veterinary students and pre-veterinary students over the age of 18 are welcome to volunteer for the clinic. Duties of volunteers may include taking patient histories, performing physical examinations, assisting veterinarians, administering preventative medications and vaccines, pulling patient charts and assisting in clean-up duties. Veterinary students interested in volunteering for upcoming Mercer Clinics should contact Celeste Foster two weeks prior to the clinic. Pre-veterinary students interested in volunteering should contact the UC Davis Vet Aide Club president.
All volunteers should be familiar with Mercer procedures and protocols. Please review the following documents prior to attending the clinic.

What to bring: scrubs (see color restrictions in volunteer protocols handout), stethoscope, watch, pen and a name tag
When to arrive: 8AM
Where to go: 1321 North C Street, Sacramento, CA
Directions: Take I-80 East to Business 80 East. After passing I-5, quickly merge to the right hand lane. Exit at 15th Street and drive straight onto X St. Turn left on 16th Street (the very next street). Go straight on 16th Street until traveling under an overpass and merge to the left lane. Turn left on North B Street. Turn right on Ahearns Street. Turn left on North C Street. Look for Loaves and Fishes on your right hand side inside the chainlink fence and park in the gravel area.
