As a courtesy, UC Davis wants our visitors and guests to know that a repair project on U.S. Highway 50 in Sacramento is expected to cause major traffic disruptions in the Sacramento region in May and June. The work, between Interstate 5 and Highway 99, is scheduled to take place 24 hours a day, seven days a week from May 2 to 22 and May 28 to June 17. The project is expected to affect traffic on the region’s highways and local surface streets. Caltrans is estimating at least one-hour delays during the project. You can learn more about the project at Fix50.com.

ACADEMIC DRESS:

The academic attire for participants in the ceremony is a doctoral gown and cap with a gray tassel.

DVM and MPVM students:
Staff from the UC Davis Store will be here on Wednesday, March 26 from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. in 1011 Valley Hall to take your orders.  They will assist you in ordering the right size cap and gown and you'll also have the opportunity to purchase invitations and grad packs.

Residents:
Your academic attire will be ordered for you by the VMTH Director's Office.

February 1 - April 21
DVM and MPVM candidates that cannot attend the March 26 ordering event, may order and pay for their academic attire by linking to the UC Davis Stores Web site. You will be prompted for your degree, name, student ID, e-mail address, telephone, height and weight. You will then be asked for billing information and notified of the return procedure and conditions. Your final order will generate a confirmation and submit the order to the UC Davis Store.

Students who order their cap & gown in-person on March 26th or online Feb. 1-April 21, will have their academic attire delivered to Valley Hall.  The cap & gown pick-up day will be Friday, May 30 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. in 1023 Valley Hall (lunch will be served).

The cap & gown rental fee is $56.00.  The gown rental is free if you order a Grad Pack.  For Grad Pack information, graduation announcements, class rings, and portrait photography, please visit the UC Davis Stores Web site.

Academic Hoods

DVM students: The academic hood is a symbol of your personal achievement, reflecting your Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of California. The satin lining of the hood is the official colors of the University, while the gray velvet indicates your DVM degree. You will be invested with a School of Veterinary Medicine hood when your degree is conferred at the ceremony. The hoods are property of the School and are loaned free of charge for your use during the ceremony.  Hoods must be returned after the ceremony to the Studio Theater (where you lined up for the procession).

MPVM students and residents: The School will loan you a hood signifying your veterinary degree to wear at the ceremony.

Candidates may purchase their own doctoral hoods for use at the ceremony by linking to the UC Davis Store. Please allow 8-10 weeks to complete your order. For further information, e-mail the commencement coordinator at treliu@ucdavis.edu.

How to return: To avoid a late charge, gowns must be returned to the Studio Theater immediately following the ceremony, or to the UC Davis Bookstore at the Memorial Union no later than Monday, June 16.  The cap and tassel are yours to keep.  Hoods, which are property of the School, must be returned to the Studio Theater following the ceremony.
