The school currently shares activities and news on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram social media channels. We encourage the entire school community to provide interesting news, photos, and initiatives to the communications team for posting on the SVM social media outlets. A number of units around the school have established social media accounts to promote communications with their targeted audiences or specific services. Social media is intended to be a frequent and interactive form of communication. Before setting up a separate channel, discuss your goals and audience with the communications team to be sure that your objectives can be met with the potential postings and staffing you anticipate committing to this activity. All social media activities associated with the SVM must comply with the school’s branding identify for consistency.

SVM Social Media Services:

  • Promoting of appropriate SVM initiatives, achievements, news, events and other items for targeted and public outreach
  • Posting of faculty, staff and student items on the SVM social media channels for broad exposure
  • Developing/implementing a social media plan associated with a specific initiative
  • Guidance on social media branding elements
  • Cross promoting of individual unit social media items on school-wide outlets
  • Fundraising/crowdsourcing promotion requests must be approved and coordinated through the Office of Development: (530) 752-7024

UCD Social Media Guidelines

The UC Davis Strategic Communications unit has developed a set of best practices for social media endorsed by the SVM.  Please review these guidelines early and often and to ensure best practices in your social media approach, compliance with campus policies, and for information on how to handle specific types of information or comment from followers.
