Nathan Christopher Nieto with squirrel Nate graduated from Humboldt State University with a B.S. in Wildlife and M.A. in Biological Sciences. His Master’s degree focused on the ecology of an emerging pathogen of amphibians, Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis, in northern red-legged frogs. Nate has worked for private, non-profit, government, and academic institutions as a wildlife biologist and scientist. Nate is interested in all forms of disease ecology and specifically for his dissertation research works on the ecology of tick-borne pathogens, Anaplasma phagocytophilum and Borrelia burgdorferi, in wildlife, humans, and domestic species. His research incorporates experiments with animal models and field research to better understand host-pathogen relationships and how this affects disease risk. Nate is in the graduate group in Comparative Pathology. Research Interests:
