Hendra virus is a novel paramyxovirus that has emerged from flying foxes into horses and humans in Australia. Our research involves analytic and simultion modeling of the virus in the flying fox host, and longitudinal virologic and serologic surveys of the virus in little red flying foxes in the Northern Territory of Australia. Through our work we hope to understand why the virus emerged from its natural host. See also Raina Plowright this site.
