Mission of the International Animal Welfare Training Institute
To be a voice for animal welfare by bringing together veterinarians, animal scientists, and other stakeholders to improve animal wellbeing of all species.
The goals are these:
- To provide a neutral platform for all animal welfare issues to be identified, discussed, and science-based solutions to be explored.
- To facilitate local, national, and international multi-agency dialogue and to develop solutions for animal welfare issues.
- To establish a globally recognized animal welfare program that pioneers humane, solution based education programs and promotes studies to develop new ways to address unresolved animal welfare issues.
- To educate, train and prepare veterinary students, community volunteers, agency representatives, and emergency responders, in the humane treatment of animals in emergency or disaster situations.
- To coordinate existing expertise, resources and facilities, to expand and provide proper training and educational opportunities for the humane care of animals.
