April 2016 – IAWTI is hosting Jim Green, Watch Commander and Animal Rescue Specialist of the UK Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service. Jim will be here for a week giving presentations and meeting with key stakeholders to share how the UK integrates animal rescue into the fire department.
JIm has developed animal rescue methods, procedures and equipment which are now standard throughout 90% of the UK. He trains fire officers and veterinarians from the UK and beyond, and continues to evolve and share this approach to best meet the needs of responders and animals worldwide.
He is internationally recognized and has been keynote speaker at conferences in the UK, Netherlands, USA, Turkey and Australia. Jim is Director and co-founder of the British Animal Rescue and Trauma Care Association.

March 2016 - IAWTI director and associates serve on a review panel for UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine student presentations of animal welfare policy positions as part of the students’ Population Health course (VM414).
March 2016 - IAWTI trainer presented lecture and table top exercise on "Emergency Animal Sheltering" to California Veterinary Medical Reserve Corps volunteers at Western University in Pomona.
March 2016 - IAWTI collaborated with the Center for Equine Health to present an all day workshop on "Veterinary Integration into Multi-Agency Emergency Equine Rescue and Disaster Response" at Circle Oak Equine Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation in Petaluma.
February 2016 - IAWTI director and associates present lectures on the veterinarian’s role in emergency and disaster management to third year UC Davis veterinary students as part of their VM430 core course which covers topics such as law, ethics, regulatory medicine, business, communication and disaster medicine.
January 2016 – Two IAWTI associates gave presentations and a 90 minute workshop on animals in disasters at the 4th International Conference on Healthcare System Preparedness and Response to Emergencies & Disasters in Tel Aviv, Israel. http://www.ipred.co.il/ They also conducted a day long emergency animal sheltering workshop at the Koret School of Veterinary Medicine in Rehovot.

September 2015 – New VERT members were trained to use the Large Animal Lift and rescue glides.
September 2015 - IAWTI and the student Veterinary Emergency and Disaster Preparedness Club (VEDP) hosted an information booth on pet preparedness and demonstrated a technical Large Animal Lift rescue at the California Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) Preparedness Day in Sacramento.

July 2015 - VERT consults with Dr. Leslie Mikulich and prepares an equipment loan for down mule rescue in Sonoma County.
June 2015 - IAWTI sponsors associate attendance at the annual American College of Animal Welfare conference in Raleigh, North Carolina.
June 2015 - IAWTI director and associate consult with Sacramento Zoo about the large animal lift, emergency response trainings, and equipment acquisition.
April 2015 - IAWTI associates present disaster planning and response research papers at the 19th World Congress on Disaster and Emergency Medicine in Cape Town, South Africa.
April 2015 - IAWTI and UC Davis Student Veterinary Emergency and Disaster Preparedness Club members collaborate to hold an equine technical rescue training workshop at the request of the Sutter Fire Department. August 2014 - IAWTI director contributes to the disaster management issue of the Center for Equine Health’s Horse Report. This fall issue won first place in disaster management from American Horse Publications. March 2014 - VERT responds to a West Plainfield Fire Department request for emergency assistance with an equine hit by a car. Sadly, the horse was badly injured and humane euthanasia is performed.
November 2013 - IAWTI associates host the 1st Annual Donkey Welfare Symposium, a 3 day lecture and lab continuing education conference.
October 2013 - IAWTI hosts a lecture from Colonel Dominique Grandjean of Paris, France, on the formal integration of veterinarians into fire departments in France.
