Title: Clinical externships at the veterinary hospital of the
University of Utrecht, Netherlands
Description: UC Davis and the faculty of veterinary medicine,
University of Utrecht have an agreement whereby 2 students from each
institution are exchanged each year. UC Davis students may spend time
in the large animal surgery section, large animal medicine section,
or companion animal section of the Utrecht University veterinary clinics.
The University of Utrecht has a world renowned program in veterinary
medicine, being the only veterinary school outside the US and Canada
to be accredited by the AVMA. This is a competitive program. Applications
are due December 1st of the 3rd DVM year and should include a short
CV, a one paragraph statement of objectives, and one letter of reference
from a UCDavis faculty member.
Qualifications: 4th year veterinary student, MPVM and graduate
academic students (knowledge of Dutch not necessary; clinical sections
are given in English when non-Dutch speakers are present)
Length of Stay: 2 to 6 weeks
Best time of year: Anytime of year, but summer is best
Housing, other information: Low-cost housing can be arranged
with one month’s notice
