student experiences

Not only do UC Davis students visit other countries, but UCD accepts visitors from countries and institutions with which we have an agreement of cooperation for student exchange. Visiting students participate in clinics at the VMTH for a period of up to six weeks. All arrangements are made by the students in conjunction with the VMTH staff.

Visiting students are encouraged to contact International Programs at least six (6) months prior to their desired visit so that they can be put in contact with the staff member who schedules student rounds at the Vet Med Teaching Hospital. Also, there can be a significant delay when it is necessary to apply for a visa in order to travel to the United States. Time can be saved if the student's home country is a participant in the visa waiver program.

After arriving at UCD, visiting students are encouraged to subscribe to the SISS listserves in order to receive the most current information on upcoming events and regulatory changes and to become familiar with the international student community on campus. Both lists can be subscribed to through the UCD ListProc website: listproc.ucdavis.edu/listproc/. Look for the "Visitors" list, which provides information on upcoming events and regulatory changes, and the "SISS Bulletin," which provides listings of items for sale, available housing and related news.

Before returning home, visiting students are asked to complete the Exit Survey . The survey can be completed online, printed, and sent to the IP Assistant at SVM International Programs.

** All student travelers should review the guidelines regarding the Visa Waiver Program and Machine-Readable Passports. **
