Our Livestock Facilities

VMTHThe VMTH has excellent facilities and equipment for handling cattle, sheep, goats, swine, and pot bellied pigs, from the tiniest neonate to the largest bull. Chute systems allow for the safe handling of fractious animals, and an automated tilt chute allows us to safely and efficiently work on foot and lower leg problems of cattle. Sets of stocks allow standing procedures in non-fractious cattle, including examinations, electrocardiology, ultrasound, x-ray and surgical procedures under local anesthesia, day or night regardless of the outside weather conditions. Special equipment such as the float tank allows the board certified anesthesiologists effective management of down cows. If general anesthesia is required we can also utilize our equine surgical tables and advanced gas anesthetic delivery systems.

Animals are housed in well bedded air conditioned box stalls and fed high quality hay and grain if appropriate. Round the clock nursing care ensures the best possible outcomes. Each patient is cared for by a dedicated team comprised of the veterinarian, a student, and a member of the nursing staff. Daily rounds assure that faculty input takes place on a regular basis. Full service on site laboratory facilities result in rapid turn around for hematology, cytology, microbiology, parasitology, virology, immunology, clinical chemistry, and biopsy.

Whether your animal is seen as an outpatient or requires hospitalization, the VMTH provides facilities that ensure the best possible outcomes.
