Registration of Referred Cases
Web Access to Referred Cases
Dear Colleague:
We recognize that you have been an active partner with us in providing our students with excellent case material through the referral process. We hope that it has become evident to you that we greatly value your referrals, and we are striving to make the referral process as easy as possible, and communications between us as easy, timely and comprehensive as possible.
In that vein, we want to bring to your attention a relatively new option we have made available. Our programmers have created a Referring Veterinarian module accessible via the World Wide Web. We realize that not everyone has signed up for Web access yet, but also recognize the rapid trend to do so, especially by the business community. For those of you already taking advantage of Web services, we hope you will find our new module to be a useful tool; for others who have been considering this new technology, we hope this may be one more factor that will lead you in that direction. For ALL of you, we want to emphasize that this module has been programmed to provide restricted access to ONLY the cases for which you have been identified as the referring veterinarian. Other practitioners cannot gain access to your cases.
So what can you see via the Web? You are now able to select from a list of cases (visits) that you have formally referred to us, as well as cases for which you were identified by the client as their local veterinarian. These visits are displayed in reverse chronological order (i.e., most recent first) with modest identifying information associated (patient name, client name, date of visit, etc.). If you select a visit which has not been finalized yet, only the demographic information will be displayed (to include the primary clinician on the case). If you select a visit that has been finalized, however, you will be able to view the following information:
- • presenting complaint
- • pertinent history
- • physical exam findings
- • inter-service consultations
- • problems noted
- • medical and surgical procedures performed
- • laboratory results
- • imaging reports
- • pharmacy dispensations
- • pathological diagnoses
- • clinical diagnoses
- • plans and progress notes
- • comments
- • discharge summary
- • discharge instructions
If you desire to take advantage of this new tool, you will need to sign up with us by submitting your desired user name and password. This can be done by accessing the Referring Vet Registration Page.
Again, we thank you for being a partner with us in the education of your future colleagues. If you have any questions and have not jumped into this new phase of the computer age, please don't hesitate to call Paul at (530) 752-2945 on Monday-Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM. We guarantee you will not get a recording!
