Personal Scientific Statement

My graduate work piqued my interest in how the epigenome is plastic, capable of being influenced by diet, environment, hormones and age. These alterations not only contribute to development but also lead to lifelong changes in physiology.

By combining my training in epigenetics and developmental biology with toxicology and neurodevelopment I am poised to address unanswered questions in the field, such as mechanisms by which environmental chemicals cause neurotoxicity and the gene environment interactions which may exacerbate neurodegenerative disorders.
