Marine Wildlife Care Center
During non-emergencies, Humboldt State University maintains the Marine Wildlife Care Center and uses its space for laboratories, classrooms and offices for the university's wildlife program. In the event of an oil spill, the building is quickly transformed into a rescue center.
When the facility is activated, response personnel from the OWCN work with volunteers from HSU and the community to care for oiled birds.
Humboldt State University joined the OWCN in 1995.
