Moss Landing Mystery Spill, November 2007
There are currently more than 200 birds in care at the facility in Cordelia that are part of what appears to be a red-tide algal die-off that may have originated in Moss Landing. Since they are not oiled by humans or human activity, there is no fund in place to pay for their care. Cash donations from the general public will be most gratefully appreciated. If you want to volunteer for this response:
With 1,500 active volunteers, we currently are not taking new registrations. Please check this site regularly for status changes.
If you would like to train for future spills: Contact your closest participating organization for information on how to volunteer. Most of our pretrained volunteers come from our 25 participating organizations and receive regular trainings.
If you see oiled wildlife: Don't approach or pick it up, but call (877) 823-6926 to report it.
