Qualifications: D.V.M. or equivalent degree from an accredited veterinary school and academically qualified for admission as a graduate student to the University of California, Davis. Demonstrated interest in a career in Comparative or Laboratory Animal Pathology.
Description: Residency training in anatomic pathology suitable for persons with limited or no post-D.V.M. training in pathology. Training consists of one year and eight months at the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital developing basic skills in morphologic pathology and acquiring a fundamental understanding of the pathogenesis of diseases via rotating assignments to pathology services under theguidance of twelve ACVP pathologists. The remainder of the second year and the third year will further develop skills in morphologic and diagnostic pathology and a fundamental understanding of disease and Laboratory Animal Pathology via assignments at the Comparative Pathology Laboratory (primarily rodent and rabbit diagnostics), California National Primate Research Center (Non-human primate pathology), and Center for Comparative Medicine (Murine Research diagnostics). Primary commitment will be 25-75% at the CPL and 25-75% at the CNPRC (Total to equal 100%) with release time to participate in Center for Comparative Pathology and Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital Pathology activities.
