Resident Training in Veterinary Anatomic Pathology

Location: Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital,
University of California, Davis, CA

Starting Date: August 1, 2010

Closing Date for Applications: Received by November 2, 2009 (or until filled)

Qualifications: D.V.M. or equivalent degree from an accredited veterinary school and academically qualified for admission as a graduate student to the University of California, Davis.

Description: Residency training in anatomic pathology suitable for persons with limited or no post-D.V.M. experience in pathology. Training consists of two years at the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital developing basic skills in morphologic pathology and acquiring a fundamental understanding of the pathogenesis of diseases via rotating assignments to pathology services under the guidance of twelve ACVP pathologists. Training consists of extensive casework in necropsy/biopsy services and departmental seminars. A diversified case load provides exposure to companion animals, food animals, laboratory animals and a variety of wild and exotic species. The postion is intended for persons planning to sit for the certifying examination of the A.C.V.P. Transition towards a Ph.D. degree program in experimental pathology is encouraged.
