Erik Wisner
VM: Surgical & Radiological Sciences
Our laboratory, in conjunction with the Center for Imaging Sciences in the
Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, uses state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging
tools to address research questions in a variety of disciplines. Our current
research activities include projects in molecular and receptor targeted imaging,
functional imaging and contrast media development. Our facilities include high-field
magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), nuclear medicine,
ultrasound and conventional radiography.
Current projects include:
- Submicron ultrasound contrast agents for sentinel lymph node localization
- Contrast-assisted ultrasound for sentinel node detection in patients with
head and neck tumors
- Quantitative evaluation of peripheral tumor perfusion and permeability using
contrast enhanced computed tomography
- Contrast-assisted destruction-replenish ultrasound for the assessment of
tumor microvasculature
- Contrast enhanced ultrasound for targeted Met receptor imaging
- Computed tomographic angiography of the equine distal extremity
- Dynamic MRI for estimation cardiac mass and fibrosis in feline familial
hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
