Research Centers of Excellence |
| Unique to the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine is the existence of numerous research "Centers of Excellence" which serve as extra-departmental settings that programmatically rather than administratively link faculty who share common research interests. Each center has its own mission and stated goals, focused on broad research themes. This concept provides numerous opportunities for multidisciplinary and cross-disciplinary collaborative research that is essential for achieving new cutting edge discoveries and insights into human and animal diseases. These settings are particularly beneficial to students who are exposed to the full spectrum of multidimensional approaches to investigations and studies of disease or syndromes, from hypothesis-driven basic science through to clinical and translational applications. Each of the YEAR faculty mentors is associated with one or more of these centers of excellence. Students are encouraged to not only meet with potential faculty mentors before applying to the YEAR Program, but also to learn more about the mentors' center affiliations. Some centers are physical, and others are considered "virtual" in that no physical space is occupied by the center itself. Access additional information about the centers by visiting their websites via the links below.
