Meet the Class of 2012

On Friday, June 15, 2012, the UCD School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM) conferred 128 Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees at the Robert and Margrit Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts in Davis, California.

The SVM is proud of its 128 new Doctors who will embark on various careers in veterinary medicine. 

Demographics Upon Entry

  • The Class of 2012 was selected from a pool of 1,178 applicants. 
  • The Class consisted of 104 females and 27 males for a total of 131 upon admissions.   
  • The ethnicity distribution was as follows: 
    • 1   African American/Black
    • 14 Asian/Other Asian
    • 80 Caucasian
    • 3   Hispanic/Mexican American/Other Spanish
    • 9   Multi-Ethnic
    • 24 Declined to state
  • The average entry ages was 24 with a range of 20 years of age to 45. 
  • Upon entry, students displayed the following interests in veterinary medicine:
    • 50- small animal
    • 13 - equine
    • 13 - mixed
    • 11 - wildlife
    • 6   - large animal
    • 3   - lab animal
    • 4   - small/equine

Academics Upon Entry

  • The average GPA was 3.56 with a 3.42 in the required sciences and a 3.62 in the last 45 semester units. 
  • The average GRE scores were as follows: 
    • Verbal- 79%  (588 scaled score)
    • Quantitative - 75% (711 scaled score)
    • Analytical Writing - 67% (5.0 scaled score)
