The School of Veterinary Medicine’s Information Technology unit (SVM-IT) provides support for the School of Veterinary Medicine’s strategic goals in Academics, Research, Clinical, and Administrative computing. Alongside the advent of fast, affordable computers, the Internet, and mobile computing our staff have been working for decades to provide effective IT support, scale up infrastructure, design easy to use systems, and improve service delivery practices. The experienced staff of SVM-IT continues to meet the 21st century challenge of an increasing workload and complexity through training, effective organizational structure and practices, and continual service delivery improvement in an era of expanding IT solutions.
The increased interdependency of IT in society requires SVM Information Technology to meet the college’s needs by developing or acquiring new skills that may be scarce and crucial to the changing requirements caused by the modern fast pace of innovation. These changing skill sets reflect the integration of new technology trends in security, storage, wireless, application development, cloud computing, and instructional design. As the School of Veterinary Medicine continues to grow the characteristics of SVM-IT continues to evolve with expanding roles for our IT staff and an efficient IT organizational framework to deliver improvements in information systems.
