West Nile Virus Conference Today at UC Davis
The West Nile virus, a mosquito-borne disease that killed 18 people in California last year, will be among the diseases discussed at the eighth annual Northern California International Health Conference, set for today at UC Davis.
Medical entomologist Gregory Lanzaro, director of the UC Mosquito Research Program and the UCD Center for Vectorborne Diseases, will speak on "The Emerging Threat of Vectorborne Diseases: A Global Perspective," including the West Nile virus, at 10:45 a.m. in the Activities and Recreation Center Pavilion.
The all-day conference kicks off with registration and a breakfast at 7:30 a.m. in the ARC Pavilion and a welcome and introductions.
The event is open to faculty, students and the general public interested in learning more about current issues in global health.
