Tara

PhD in Entomology in progress

Tara works with her major professor, Dr. William Reisen on the ecology of West Nile virus.  She conducts avian identification in our lab using molecular genetic tools and studies the viral aspects of her studies in Dr. Reisen's lab

In this photo, Tara is "vacuuming" mosquitoes into a container for testing.  She'll analyze the blood in the mosquito for presence of West Nile virus and DNA within the blood (from the last bird the mosquito fed on) to identify bird species.
