The Lucy Whittier Molecular & Diagnostic Core Facility
News
As of May 5th 2008 the Core Facility will no longer offer the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) PCR test. We apologize as we understand the diagnostic impedance this will cause in differentiating true infection from vaccination. Thank you for understanding and we look forward to continue providing you with our services.
The Lucy Whittier Molecular & Diagnostic Core Facility (LWMDCF) is a UC Davis laboratory offering TaqManŽ PCR research including but not limited to human, cancer, stem-cells, plant, rodent along with diagnostic services for veterinarians. The laboratory was created to provide researchers with flexible services to detect infectious agents and gene expression. The facility also provides expertise in the analysis of nucleic acids. The Core Facility consists of four fully equipped molecular biology laboratories for sample preparation, extraction, laser capture microdissection, TaqManŽ PCR assay generation, storage, and analysis. The Facility is dedicated to providing diagnostic services for the veterinary community by combining semi-automated throughput extraction systems and state-ofthe-art laser-based equipment with over eight years of PCR experience in the animal sector. Board certified veterinarians also provide consulting in the field of canine, feline and equine infectious diseases in order to address any specific issues associated with diagnostic testing.
