This service is currently available only for grapevines originating in California - samples from outside of California or the U.S. will not be accepted.

- A quote will be issued and mailed back along with the “Agreement for Provision of Plant PCR Testing Services” form.
- Submit the following:

- Exhibit 13A form
- Completed submission form, or Excel format Sample Submission form (10+ samples)
- If needed, e-mail large submission form to Cathy Inta
Grapevine Pathogens (Panel A) starting October 1st
- Submit six 10 inch cane cuttings at least 1cm in diameter per mature grapevine (defined as one sample)
- Use gloves when collecting samples and change gloves between grapevines
- Remove petioles (if desired) by pulling from the leaf
- Wrap cuttings in a moist paper towel and place in a clearly labeled ziploc bag
- Store samples at 4C until shipped. When collecting samples in the field, place them in a cooler with covered icepacks. Do not place samples directly on ice.
Grapevine Nepoviruses (Panel B) from early spring through June
- Submit 15-20 petioles per grapevine
- Use gloves when collecting samples and change gloves between grapevines
- Remove petioles by pulling from the leaf - DO NOT CUT OR REMOVE LEAVES
- Wrap petioles in a moist paper towel and place in a clearly labeled ziploc bag
- Store samples at 4C until shipped. When collecting samples in the field, place them in a cooler with covered icepacks. Do not place samples directly on ice.
*Xylella fastidiosa can be added to either panel A or panel B
- Samples should be in a clearly labeled ziploc bag.
- Include a completed Sample Submission Form with each shipment.
- Samples should be shipped in a rigid container (i.e. cardboard or styrofoam box).
- Include ice packs covered with absorbant material to absorb condensation and protect samples.
- Ship overnight (the laboratory is open Monday-Friday) via FedEx or other express courier.
- Do NOT use USPS as all packages are held at a central campus distribution center.
