Mission and Introduction - About the VMTH

About the VMTHThe Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH), a unit of the School of Veterinary Medicine, provides state of the art clinical care while serving as the primary clinical teaching experience for our DVM students and post graduate veterinarian residents.

The current hospital was opened in 1970 and has had two major additions, the latest completed in 2004. The hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art, modern equipment, a highly trained technical and nursing staff of 300 and internationally recognized faculty veterinarians. Within the DVM curriculum, students are introduced to clinical medicine in the first three years, while the fourth year is devoted entirely to clinical instruction. The students work as part of a team comprised of world renowned faculty members and residents training in that field, and experienced staff members. The VMTH is the primary focus for this clinical instruction, and also for that involving residents in 28 specialty areas. The VMTH is open to the public and sees all species of animals.
