Teaching Environment
Here at the William R. Pritchard Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital, as the name implies, we are a teaching institution. We are dedicated to providing your animal the best possible care and teaching our veterinary students at the same time. This is one of our primary missions, and we wholeheartedly embrace this responsibility. The professional DVM curriculum involves 3-years of intensive veterinary coursework prior to a full year of clinical instruction. Each student is closely supervised by a veterinarian in order to insure that he/she receives proper training, and that your animal is given the best possible care. We believe that both you and your animal will benefit from this extra attention. Consequently, an appointment at the VMTH will take more time than one with your local veterinarian.
Please be prepared to spend at least 90 minutes at the VMTH after your appointment begins, and if extensive testing is required, it may be necessary to spend as much as a full day with us. Thank you for not only allowing us to take care of your beloved pet, but also for being part of the academic process, supporting our educational program and contributing to the next generation of veterinary professionals.
