The Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH), is part of the School of Veterinary Medicine at UC Davis. The VMTH is staffed by a faculty of internationally recognized veterinary specialists. The hospital was opened in 1970 and has had two major additions, the latest completed in 2004. The hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art, modern equipment, a highly trained technical and nursing staff of 300. Within the DVM curriculum, students are introduced to clinical medicine in the first three years, while the fourth year is devoted entirely to clinical instruction.
