Regenerative Medicine

Cell Processing Services

Stem cell processing services are currently available for horses and dogs. For dogs, we offer processing of fat and BM. For horses, we offer processing services for fat, BM, umbilical cord tissue and umbilical cord blood.

We are happy to work with veterinarians on determining the optimal source for individual therapeutic applications. The Regenerative Medicine Laboratory currently offers the services listed below. Referring veterinarians may submit samples using the submission forms provided on this website.

Equine and Canine Bone Marrow

Bone Marrow Expansion and Return
Bone marrow is concentrated and cultured to isolate and expand mesenchymal stem cells (MSC). One dose is returned to the veterinarian and three additional doses are stored for future use. Inclusive of this fee is four years of storage for the additional three doses.

Bone Marrow MSC Dose Return
MSC samples are retrieved from storage, prepared for use and returned to the veterinarian of choice. Dose return requires that the Regenerative Medicine Laboratory be notified 72 to 96 hours prior to the need of the MSC dose to allow time for sample preparation, packaging and shipping.

Sample Quality Check
All services are dependent upon receipt of a viable sample. Certification of sample viability will take place upon receipt of sample at the Regenerative Medicine Laboratory, and no processing will occur if the sample does not meet a minimum quality standard. If a sample does not meet our quality standard, a refund will be issued for that sample less a fee for handling and assessment.

Regenerative MedicineEquine Umbilical Cord Blood and/or Cord Tissue

Cord Blood/Cord Tissue Concentration and Storage
Cord blood is concentrated and stored for four years.

Cord Blood/Cord Tissue Culture Expansion and Storage
Culture expansion of previous concentrated cord blood and stored sample.

Cord Blood/Cord Tissue Expansion and Storage
Cord blood is concentrated and cultured to isolate and expand messenchymal stem cells. One dose is returned to the veterinarian and one additional dose is stored for future use. Inclusive of this is four years of storage for the additional dose.

Annual Bone Marrow or MSC storage fee
Four years of free storage is included for cord blood concentration and storage. After the initial four-year period, samples can be stored for as many years as required.

Canine and Equine Fat (adipose tissue) processing

Fat processing and return (stromal vascular fraction)
Fat is digested and processed and the stromal vascular fraction (or adipose derived progenitor cells) is returned to the clinician within 24 hours of sample receipt.

Fat processing, expansion and return
Fat is digested and processed. A portion of this sample can be returned to the clinician as the stromal vascular fraction (or adipose derived progenitor cells). PLEASE notify the lab if you would like an aliquot of non-expanded progenitor cells returned. Remaining cells are cultured to isolate and expand adipose-derived MSCs. One dose [minimum 10 million cells] is returned to the veterinarian and 3 additional doses are stored for future use. Included in this fee is one-year of storage for the additional doses.
